The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has unveiled the schedule for the opening fortnight of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, set to commence from March 22, 2024, to April 7, 2024. Over the span of two weeks, a total of 21 matches will be played across 10 different cities, ensuring an exciting start to the 17th season of the tournament.

The inaugural match will witness defending champions and five-time title holders, Chennai Super Kings, facing off against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Chennai on Friday. The opening weekend will feature two double headers, with Punjab Kings hosting Delhi Capitals on Saturday afternoon, followed by Kolkata Knight Riders welcoming Sunrisers Hyderabad in the evening. On Sunday afternoon, the action will move to Jaipur, where Rajasthan Royals will clash with Lucknow Super Giants. The evening fixture on Sunday will see Gujarat Titans, the 2022 champions and finalists of the last season, locking horns with five-time winners Mumbai Indians.

Delhi Capitals, opting to play their initial two home games in Visakhapatnam, will first encounter Chennai Super Kings on Sunday, March 31st, at the port city, followed by a match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the same venue on Wednesday, April 3rd.

The BCCI ensures close collaboration with government and security agencies, adhering to all necessary protocols and advisories, particularly related to the forthcoming Lok Sabha Elections in India. Upon the announcement of the polling dates for the 18th Lok Sabha elections, the Board will review and address any scheduling concerns for the first two weeks.
